However, there are some films that will remain in cinema history forever, about which people say “for all ages to come”. We can pick up other matching synonyms for a very long time, but such movies are considered epochal, immortal and legendary, and nothing can erase them from the viewer’s memory, no matter how hard anyone tries. It seems like only last year, but far from it, in 1987, 1990, and 1993 the world of cinema was replenished with new movies RoboCop, RoboCop 2 and RoboCop 3.
The story of a policeman who was killed in the course of the mission, but with time, was revived by engineers. However, he was already a cyborg who proceeded with his work on the side of the law. The role of the police officer was played by Wisconsinite Peter Weller.
It seems that this film would be like a regular good officer story if it was not for the legend of a half-human robot in the trilogy. But this element of fiction, especially in the 90s, added a special taste to this movie.
According to the plot of the second part of Irvin Kershner’s movie, in the thick of the events is the former policeman Alex Murphy, aka the cyborg RoboCop, who was given a new challenge by fate.
The events are supposedly taking place in Detroit. Although we all know perfectly well that the truth is nowhere near it, most of what the viewer saw in the shot was the location of Houston.
How was it?
Including the credits, the running of the film is 117 minutes, of which only two minutes were shot outside of Houston.
The film director felt comfortable that at night, Houston is not so crowded, so he could work without disturbing the residents. But they were aware that the film crew was in the city. There was a particularly compelling moment when a local thief snatched a gold chain from the neck of one of the set coordinators. Even though he ended up like in a movie, with the Word of the Law and severe punishment.

Since the shooting of the movie took place in Houston, this city and its well-known River Oaks cinema were chosen to host the world premiere of the film. This remarkable event took place on June 20, 1990.
The leading character spoke with admiration for the city. He says that the city has become perfect due to the ideal contrast ratio, which, according to the director’s idea, was suitable for depicting the future Detroit and gloomy places fit perfectly into the film picture.

Undoubtedly, this moment increased the tourist appeal of the city. According to some estimates, just from the wallets of tourists, eight million euros were added to the local economy during the year.
It’s important to notice that in total three parts were shot in the trilogy. Still, for the Houston citizens, it was the second part that forever became something bigger and perhaps might be very dear to them.
